I wasn’t feeling 100% today but I knew I had to get outside. The sun was shining and the air was cool and clean. I mustered up some energy and went out to do some yard work. I also got some work done on getting my canoe ready for exploring the marshes this spring.
It wasn’t long until I felt a need to make some images. Collecting “photographic assets” is a term I learned from a photographer named Brooks Jensen. I’m up to about 5 or 6 collections I’m working on so no matter the day or location I can usually go out and instead of mindlessly wandering there is some purpose at hand.
On my hands and knees I was looking at the ground with eyes a foot away instead of the usual six. If you haven’t tried it, I highly suggest you do. Have you wondered what a dog sees? I didn’t spend much time but I found the plant life in the image today. One could say there was life and death. As conditions for one plant are no longer present for living and breathing and eating, it changes roles and finds its way back to the earth to nourish the new seeds come spring.
